Mico is having a moment.
The Filipino Canadian pop-punk artist just released “I’d Hate to Be My Friend,” and it’s already proving to be one of his biggest successes yet.
Garnering over 190,000 streams within 24 hours, the song has set a new record for the rising star, who continues to carve out his place in today’s pop-punk landscape.
With momentum on his side, Mico is also gearing up for the next chapter – his upcoming project, “Internet Hometown Hero (+DLC),” set for release on May 2, followed by a nearly sold-out US tour.
On Instagram, Mico reflected on the release, sharing, “Thank you for the love on IHH; I’m not a big fan of deluxes, but these songs would’ve been on it if we had more time to finish them. Can’t wait to share the final pieces of the story with you.”

The upcoming “Internet Hometown Hero” tour, set for May 2025, will feature Filipino Indian artist Ashley Mehta on its US leg.
The tour kicks off in Philadelphia on May 8, with stops in Washington, Boston, Cleveland and Detroit – all already sold out.
Behind the scenes, Mico co-wrote his latest track with Mickey Brandolino, Callum Maudsley, Scott Helman and Mathijs Iv. The track was co-produced with Brandolino, while Andrew Feels handled mixing.
The release follows “Homesick (Repack)” in January, a revamped take on his fan-favorite song Homesick.

Mico, born Miguel Veloso, started his music journey on SoundCloud and Discord, where he built a dedicated following.
Growing up in a Filipino household, he was surrounded by classic OPM (Original Pilipino Music), which influenced his love for music. Over time, he embraced pop punk, drawing inspiration from bands like Marianas Trench and 5 Seconds of Summer.
With his biggest release yet and a tour almost completely sold out, Mico is proving that his music isn’t just resonating with fans – it’s defining a new era of pop punk.
