Fil-Am artist returns with solo exhibit on reflection and renewal

Filipino American artist Nanette Ana Maria Villanueva – also known as Anama – returns to Manila for her solo exhibit, titled “Re:flux+ion- The Energy of Reflection and Flow,” at Gallery 1 of Kapitolyo Art Space, a contemporary haven in the vibrant community of Kapitolyo, Pasig.
The exhibit opened on Feb. 15, 2025 and runs until March 8, 2025.
The opening night was a resounding success, with the gallery filled with energy as guests gathered to witness Anama’s first solo exhibition in 25 years. The event marked not only her return to the Manila art scene but also a deeply personal homecoming.

Guests gather to witness Anama’s first solo exhibition in 25 years, CONTRIBUTED
This exhibit marks a pivotal moment in Anama’s artistic journey, showcasing a collection of new works that explore themes of connection, renewal and the fluid nature of life.
Re:flux+ion- reflects her evolution as an artist and her reconnection with Manila after 25 years, following her last solo exhibits at the Ayala Museum, Lopez Museum, Philippine Consulate in NYC, United Nations and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
“Art has always been my anchor,” Anama shares. “This exhibit celebrates resilience, growth and the beauty of life’s transitions.”
Presented by Kapitolyo Art Space, Re:flux+ion- offers audiences an intimate glimpse into the artist’s heartfelt homecoming.
The exhibit showcases a contemporary style that masterfully balances vibrant reflection and creativity, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the artist’s inspiring journey.

In addition to her solo exhibit, Anama is also part of the ongoing group show “Vision-Versatil” at Museo ng Makati, which runs until March 19, 2025.
This exhibit, featuring works by University of Santo Tomas alumni, highlights the dynamic versatility and artistic evolution of its participating artists.
Following the success of Re:flux+ion, Anama will return to Manila in September 2025 for another highly anticipated solo exhibition.
