Iñigo Pascual, Ivana Alawi among celebrities affected by LA wildfires
Wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles County have displaced over 180,000 residents, destroyed properties and tragically claimed lives since igniting on Jan. 7.
Among those affected are Filipino celebrities, many of whom have taken to social media to share their experiences and offer prayers for the safety of others.
Filipino actor and singer Iñigo Pascual, who currently resides in Los Angeles with his family, was among those forced to evacuate.
In an Instagram story, Pascual assured fans that his loved ones, including their pets, were safe. “Thanks to everyone who’s checked in. Haven’t been able to respond to all the messages. My family evacuated where we live last night, and everyone is safe, including our furry family members,” Pascual wrote.
He also expressed hope for the situation to improve soon. “Praying and claiming for this to end soon. Sending prayers to everyone in L.A., especially those who lost their homes. If you’re in L.A., please stay alert. The fires just seem to pop out of nowhere,” he continued.
Meanwhile, US-based Filipino artist Ylona Garcia also shared her experience.
“Evacuated Los Angeles a couple days ago and have been trying to wrap my head around everything that’s been happening. I’m sorry that all I can do right now is pray for everyone affected by these fires. Regardless, my prayers & heart go out to you,” the Pinoy Big Brother 737 runner-up wrote.
Filipino model Kelsey Merritt revealed that her neighborhood was caught in the blaze.
“Thank you for everyone checking on me, my neighborhood is on fire. Please stay safe and praying for all our homes,” she posted.
Similarly, Ivana Alawi, another Filipino celebrity affected by the disaster, shared her ordeal, writing, “Outside our homes rn. Pray for LA.”
The wildfires continue to pose a severe threat as firefighters battle to control the flames. Many communities remain on high alert.
