BTS’ J-Hope donates 100 million won to Jeju Air crash victims’ families
South Korea is reeling from the tragic Jeju Air Flight 2216 crash that claimed the lives of 179 passengers in Muan, Jeollanam-do. The aircraft erupted into flames, leaving the nation in mourning.
BTS’ member J-Hope, known for his ongoing philanthropic endeavors, has donated 100 million won, which is approximately $68,000, to the victims’ families. The generous gesture was made through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association on Jan. 2.
Upon hearing the news of the accident, J-Hope expressed his deep sorrow.
He stated, as shared by All K-pop, “I decided to make this donation to help the bereaved families as much as I can.”
The artist later conveyed his condolences, expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved families and all those affected by the tragedy, while offering his heartfelt support to those enduring such unimaginable pain.
This contribution from J-Hope further solidifies his position as a member of “Hope Bridge Honor Club,” a group of high-value donors who regularly support causes in need.
In addition to his charitable efforts, J-Hope is also making headlines for his upcoming solo activities. Having completed his mandatory military service on Oct. 17 last year, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the stage.
J-Hope will kick off his “J-HOPE TOUR – HOPE ON THE STAGE” concert in Seoul at the KSPO Dome from Feb. 28 to March 2 this year.
Looking ahead, BTS fans are thrilled by the news of the group’s full comeback in 2025, as reported by Korean outlets.
After fulfilling their military obligations, the group will return to the global stage for a celebratory world tour marking the 10th anniversary of their iconic “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” series.
As of now, five of the seven BTS members are still serving in the military. The remaining members, including SUGA, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, will be discharged in mid-2025.
