Sofronio Vasquez teams up with Michael Bublé to kick-start music career
Fresh off his groundbreaking win as the first Filipino and Asian champion of NBC’s The Voice, Sofronio Vasquez is diving headfirst into his music career with the help of his coach, Michael Bublé.
The Misamis Occidental native, who now resides in Utica, New York, isn’t just celebrating his victory as he’s already laying the groundwork for what’s next.
Central to his plans is a collaboration with Bublé, who has become more than a mentor for the rising star.
The “Tawag ng Tanghalan” alum shared that the Grammy-winning crooner is helping him connect with industry professionals to bring his musical vision to life.
“Of course, with Michael Bublé’s idea, he knows who are the perfect people to be connected to and to be talking to,” Vasquez revealed in a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. “I’m going to trust in them, but, of course, I have a really good vision about my music so I’m so excited to be working on that.”

While Vasquez is eager to explore songwriting, he admitted that collaborating with skilled writers will be key to refining his craft.
“I tried writing songs, but English is not my first language,” he explained. “So, I would really love to hook up with a collaborator.”
With Bublé’s expertise and Vasquez’s passion for performing, the duo is focused on building a sound that blends Vasquez’s unique cultural background with universal appeal.
Winning “The Voice” for the Filipino singer is a personal redemption story. Reflecting further on his journey, he described how life’s adversities ultimately led him to “The Voice.”
Vasquez, who once faced setbacks on “The Voice” Philippines with a no-chair turn and narrowly missed victories as a two-time finalist on Tawag ng Tanghalan, saw his dreams redirected to the US stage, where he finally earned the spotlight he long deserved.
“Having to go through difficult adversities in life, I guess that’s the answer of me being redirected… through The Voice in the U.S.,” Vasquez reflected. “And I finally got the chair turn. It’s the best redemption that I could ever imagine.”
