Blackpink’s Rosé makes Billboard chart history with ‘APT.’
All over the place and all over the world, you hear everyone singing and dancing to “APT.” And this song helped Blackpink member Rosé to make history in the music industry.
Ever since its release, the collaboration track between Filipino American singer-songwriter and now an “oppa” Bruno Mars and the Blackpink superstar was a massive hit worldwide.
Recently, Billboard announced that “APT.” had debuted at No. 38 on its Radio Songs chart, a ranking of the most-played songs across US radio stations from all genres.
This achievement marks a significant breakthrough for K-pop, as Rosé has become the first female K-pop artist to enter the Top 40 on this chart.
With that, the feat she bagged not only surpasses the record held by K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty for the highest debut by a female K-pop act with their viral sensation “Cupid,” which premiered at No. 48 last year, but also establishes herself as the highest-charting female K-pop soloist in Radio Songs history.

Not just that, the K-pop idol also overtakes the ranking of her fellow Blackpink bandmate Jennie, whose collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, “One of the Girls,” peaked at No. 48 earlier this year.
What makes this milestone even more remarkable is the rarity of female K-pop representation on the Radio Songs chart. “APT.” is only the third track by a female K-pop act to ever secure a spot, joining the ranks of “Cupid” and “One of the Girls.”
At the recently concluded 2024 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), their collaboration garnered the prestigious “Global Sensation Award.” This win marked Mars’ first-ever MAMA trophy and a notable milestone in his foray into the K-pop scene.
While accepting the award, the Blackpink member expressed her excitement, saying, “The song began with the drinking game I like the most, and I never expected it to be loved this much.”
