grentperez’s ‘2DK’ reveals bold, edgy musical style
Unleashing his boldest sound yet, Filipino Australian artist and “Room for You” hitmaker grentperez follows up his breakout hit “Fuzzy Feeling” with the edgy and experimental “2DK” (short for Two Drunk Kids).
Offering fans a glimpse of his playful side, the new single, released via Fast Friends and AWAL, brings a mix of high synths, an electronic melody and grentperez’s signature catchy hooks.
Infused with moody undertones and a bit of experimentation, “2DK” marks a departure from the artist’s previous work, embracing an entirely different sound. The music video now has more than 36k views as of this writing.
Reflecting on the process, grentperez explains, “I wanted to explore different genres and sounds, trying something a little more moody for a change.”
The singer embraced an experimental approach while working with producer Gianluca, who introduced him to a set of synth sounds that were quite different from his usual style.
Initially, grentperez was skeptical and hesitant to even hum a melody, but after a spontaneous moment, he ended up crafting the line “two drunk kids turning up for the night.”
Although uncertain at first, he eventually warmed to the track, feeling that it revealed a new dimension of his musical identity.
Accompanying the release is a music video that amplifies the track’s nostalgic vibe, shot through a camcorder lens that evokes a sense of youthful energy and carefree nights.
After the warm reception of “Fuzzy Feeling,” which earned praise from both fans and the press, “2DK” continues grentperez’s journey of musical experimentation
