Fil-Am actor Nico Santos guest stars as nurse on NBC’s ‘St. Denis Medical’
Filipino American actor Nico Santos is once again putting Pinoy pride on the global stage, with his guest appearance in NBC’s sitcom “St. Denis Medical.”
Born in the Philippines and raised in the US, Santos proudly embraces his roots in his latest role as Rene, a Filipino nurse who leads a dynamic team in the hospital’s bustling corridors.
In the episode titled “Salamat You Too,” Santos’ character shines as the witty and sharp-tongued Rene, a seasoned registered nurse who isn’t afraid to stand his ground, especially in his clashes with head nurse Alex, played by Allison Tolman.

His hilarious one-liners and commanding presence inject energy into the show, offering a comedic yet relatable portrayal of a Filipino professional navigating the highs and lows of healthcare.
The episode didn’t just bring laughs but also paid subtle homage to Filipino culture through its title and Santos’ character.
NBC highlighted his appearance on their social media, sharing a sneak peek of Rene in his blue scrubs, with the caption: “So don’t freak out but look who’s here… Watch Nico Santos in an all-new episode of #StDenisMedical TONIGHT 8/7c on NBC.”
Santos is no stranger to the limelight, having built an impressive career with roles in “Superstore,” “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” Each role has showcased his range as an actor, and his guest spot on “St. Denis Medical” is no exception.
Off-screen, Santos continues to celebrate his Filipino heritage. He recently vacationed in the Philippines with his husband, actor Zeke Smith, after their wedding, cementing his connection to his homeland.
