During the Miss Earth 2024 pageant in Manila, a candid moment emerged when Filipino host Robi Domingo asked Millan-Windorski if it was her first time in the Philippines.

She warmly shared that she had frequently visited the Philippines throughout her childhood, spending moments with her grandmother in La Union.

These visits left a lasting impression, as she volunteered at a turtle sanctuary, sparking her early love for environmental causes.

This early experience cultivated a deep-rooted commitment to nature conservation and environmental responsibility.

In the final question-and-answer portion, Millan-Windorski spoke passionately about the importance of blending traditional wisdom with modern technology in environmental preservation.

Drawing from her heritage, she cited a powerful indigenous saying: “We don’t inherit the world from our ancestors; rather, we borrow it from our children.”

This perspective underscores her belief in safeguarding the planet for future generations, an ethos she embodies through her advocacy.

Before her crowning moment, Millan-Windorski had taken to social media to rally against fossil fuel funding, urging governments and corporations to prioritize the planet over profit.
