Meet your new assistant: ‘Ask Meta AI’

While scrolling through Messenger, you may have noticed a new addition—“Ask Meta AI or Search” now sits at the top of your profile icons. But what exactly is Meta AI, and how does it work?

Meta AI is built with Meta’s Llama 3 technology and it’s available for free across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.

With this assistant at your fingertips, you can ask questions, seek information about your interests and boost your productivity – all in real-time. It’s like having a knowledgeable companion in your pocket, ready to help you navigate various tasks and queries.

According to Meta in their news release, one of the features of Meta AI is its user-friendly interface, complete with pre-set prompts to kickstart your interactions.

You might see suggestions like “make a personality quiz,” “10 most beautiful cities,” or “5 tips for glowing skin.”

These prompts are designed to inspire creativity and help you explore new ideas. 

“Planning a night out with friends? Ask Meta AI to recommend a restaurant with sunset views and vegan options.

Organizing a weekend getaway? Ask Meta AI to find concerts for Saturday night. Cramming for a test? Ask Meta AI to explain how hereditary traits work,” they wrote.

How does it work?

When you click on the Meta AI feature, you’ll enter a chat-like environment where you can engage in conversation. Type in your queries, and it will generate responses based on your input.

This interactive element allows you to ask follow-up questions, ensuring you receive the information you need in a way that feels personal and engaging.

According to Meta, the enhancements to Meta AI are fueled by their most powerful large language model yet.

The company is enthusiastic about introducing this next-generation assistant to a broader audience and anticipates the positive impact it will have on users’ lives.
