Fans were in for a pleasant surprise when Japanese singer-actor Kento Nakajima confirmed his Filipino roots during a warm exchange with Filipina actress Liza Soberano at the Coach Spring 2025 show in New York Fashion Week on Sept. 10.
The unexpected revelation has since taken social media by storm, sparking excitement among their followers.
In a video that quickly went viral, the encounter between the two stars began with the “Lisa Frankenstein” star introducing herself to Nakajima.

“I’m from the Philippines,” she said cheerfully. The actor, without hesitation, responded, “I’m half Filipino,” much to the surprise and delight of Soberano, who reacted with a smile and said, “Oh, you are?” She then asked if he had ever visited the Philippines, to which Nakajima confirmed that he had.
