Fil-Am actor Conrad Ricamora joins cast of Hulu’s ‘How To Die Alone’
Filipino representation in international mainstream media continues to thrive as another Filipino American actor has joined the main cast of a new Hulu show.
Conrad Ricamora is set to showcase his acting chops once more on Hulu with his role in the upcoming series, “How To Die Alone,” as reported by Deadline.
Known for his standout performances in “How to Get Away with Murder” and “Fire Island,” the Fil-Am actor will star as Rory, the best friend of the show’s protagonist, Melissa, played by Natasha Rothwell.
In a pinned Instagram post featuring a clip from the show, Ricamora teased the upcoming series with the caption, “Fasten your seatbelts – it’s gonna be a ride.” The series, created by Onyx Collective for Hulu, is scheduled to debut on Sept. 13.
Ricamora’s role as Rory is described by Deadline as a “self-involved, boy-crazy, love-starved” character who is a well-meaning yet somewhat oblivious companion to Mel.
Rory, who comes from a privileged background, is the adopted son of a wealthy Upper East Side family and struggles with his own romantic and personal dilemmas. As he navigates his newfound interest in monogamy, Rory’s character promises a mix of comedy and introspection.
For the uninitiated, “How To Die Alone” centers on Mel, a JFK airport employee who feels stuck in life until an unexpected brush with death propels her into a transformative journey.
Rothwell, who also serves as a showrunner and executive producer of the show, portrays Mel, described as a “broke, fat, Black” individual who begins to live life to the fullest.
This project adds to Ricamora’s growing list of international shows. His impressive resume includes his role in the 2023 Broadway musical “Here Lies Love,” alongside an all-Filipino cast, and the 2015 revival of “The King and I.” He also has recently appeared in “The Resident” on Fox.
