Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are latest celebrity victims of burglary in LA
LOS ANGELES – A guest house on the estate in Los Angeles owned by Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson was burglarized, according to media reports Monday.
The guest house was broken into a few weeks ago according to police reports obtained by TMZ.
The break-in reportedly happened during the day and police said they found broken glass outside the guest house.
The main house on the estate was not broken into. Neither Hanks nor Wilson were home during the burglary.
It was unclear if anything was stolen, TMZ reported. No arrests have been made in the burglary.
The home of Hanks and Wilson is the latest break-in at a celebrity’s home. Drake, JoJo Siwa, and Goldie Hawn have reported break-ins recently at their homes. Various Dodgers and basketball players have also reported break-ins at their homes.
It is also part of increased reports of home burglaries in the San Fernando Valley and in the Los Angeles area.
In June, Goldie Hawn revealed that her home with Kurt Russell was the target of a burglary attempt.
The actress, during an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s SiriusXM show “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” revealed a second attempted home invasion at their Los Angeles home.
“I’m in the house by myself. It’s the dog and I hear this big thump upstairs, and I was alone. Kurt wasn’t there and I went, ‘What the hell was that?'” she said. “It was just like, was that a sonic boom? Did somebody jump somewhere? I mean, and as it turned out, the next day we discovered that they were trying to get in my bedroom while I was in the house.”
Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that detectives are investigating several home burglaries in the Silverlake and East Hollywood areas.
“Residents are encouraged to turn on all exterior lighting, lock all windows and doors, and be aware of any suspicious persons or vehicles,” LAPD said in a statement. (With CNS report)
