Miss Hawai’i USA has that Filipina fire!

Breea Yamat, crowned Miss Hawai’i USA 2024, is poised to bring her unique mixed heritage to the national stage. The 27-year-old beauty queen, of Mexican Filipino descent, hopes to follow in the footsteps of mixed Filipina contestants like the Philippines’ Chelsea Manalo, Great Britain’s Christina Dela Cruz Chalk and New Zealand’s Franki Russell to the Miss Universe 2024 as she competes for the Miss USA title this August.

Yamat, who hails from Oahu, was crowned on April 19 at the Royal Hawai’i Center Theater. In an Instagram post, she celebrated her heritage, writing, “Mexican spice mixed with Filipina fire” while posing in a fiery red gown.

“I love that people have noticed my multicultural background, and I’m proud to highlight my heritage. America’s strength lies in its diversity, where every culture, race, and belief adds a unique thread to the tapestry of our shared identity,” Yamat shared.

But before having the right to represent the state on the national stage, Yamat was the second runner-up at Miss Hawai’i USA 2020 and shares the pageant stage with her sister, Kiana Yamat, who was Miss Hawai’i USA 2022.
