This fast food burger is No. 1 in America and it’s not In-N-Out

The hamburger has been an American staple for about a century and remains the most popular fast food category.

There’s a long list of fast food chains to choose from, but which ones make the best burgers?

10. 1921 Slider by White Castle

Calories: 250 per serving (122g)

A tribute to their original slider from 1921, you’ll be traveling back in time with this little powerhouse still holding the old recipe featuring a thicker patty topped with caramelized onions, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, a slice of Roma tomato, pickles and lettuce.

Time Magazine coined their original slider as the most influential burger of all time. White Castle, which opened in Wichita, Kansas, in 1921 has been recognized as the first fast food joint.

9. Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger at Carl’s Jr.

Calories: 1120 per serving (11.9 oz.)

Delivering a taste of the Wild West, Carl’s Jr. didn’t fail with burgers packed with two crispy onion rings, two strips of bacon, American cheese and tangy BBQ sauce on a seeded bun.

8. Whopper by Burger King

Calories: 670 per serving 

Burger King has been searing this flame-grilled legend since 1957. This beast of a burger is topped with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, ketchup and sliced onions on a sesame seed bun. 

New on their menu is the updated version, Fiery Bacon Whopper filled with ¼ lb of beef, spicy bacon, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and a creamy, fiery sauce. Burger King says it’s a “Spice Level 3” burger.

7. ButterBurger Cheese, Double at Culver’s

Calories: 700  per serving 

This burger is what happens when Wisconsin cheese meets fresh and never-frozen beef, making it a standout on the list of best burgers.

It’s made with beef seared on a grill right after you order and its toppings include real American cheese from Wisconsin, served on a lightly buttered, toasted bun.

Calories: 880  per serving 

Big Texas-sized zest is Whataburger’s specialty. One of the best fast food burgers, it is made of two large beef patties made from 100 percent USDA-inspected ground beef — all wrapped in a soft, white bun. It’s not all about its big size; this burger is also big in flavor.

5. Cheeseburger at Five Guys

Calories: 840  per serving 

This fast food chain prides itself on its hand-formed patties with melted American-style cheese, served on a toasted sesame seed bun. You can choose as many toppings as you want. 

These guys have been serving burgers since 1986 — with no freezers, only coolers, so you know your patties are fresh.

3. BBQ Rodeo Burger at BurgerFi

Calories: 730 per serving 

Ready to giddy up? This creation is a perfect mix of their all-natural Angus beef, pepper jack cheese, charred jalapeños, crispy haystack onions and tangy Memphis Sweet BBQ sauce. It’s a rodeo ride of savory, sweet and spicy flavors.

Thanks to its freshly baked bun, two slices of American cheese, two beef patties, tomato, onions, lettuce and secret spread, it has become a fan favorite not just in California but all over the US. 

“The burger’s toppings made it very flavorful, it was large but not too big, and it was shockingly inexpensive,” said Business Insider. 

1. Double Char by The Habit Burger Grill

Calories: 640  per serving 

Char-grilled to perfection, the best fast burger has been winning palates since 1969. Featuring two fresh ground beef patties, caramelized onions and the fixings in between toasted buns, this is the star of all burgers.
