White House taps Fil-Am as top liaison to House of Representatives

Joyce Yamat Meyer, Speaker Paul Ryan’s top aide, will be the White House’s chief liaison to the House of Representatives.
WASHINGTON, DC — A Filipina American longtime top aide to Speaker Paul Ryan will be the White House’s chief liaison to the House of Representatives.
President Trump’s Director of Legislative Affairs Marc T. Short announced the appointment of Joyce Yamat Meyer, 45, of Franklin, Wisconsin, as deputy assistant to the president and House deputy director of legislative affairs.
Meyer is Ryan’s deputy chief of staff. She was staff director when he served as chairman of the Ways and Means committee, and was one of his top aides. She has been with Ryan for 18 years.
Meyer’s appointment into this key post will most likely be welcomed by House Republicans because of her connections in Congress. Her father hails from Masantol, Pampanga.
