Prince, Depeche Mode among the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025
HOLLYWOOD – Actors Emilio Estevez, Fran Drescher and Glynn Turman, musicians Prince, Depeche Mode, Green Day and the B-52, and sports stars David Beckham and Orel Hershiser were among the luminaries named this week in the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025.
The honorees include a range of professionals in the categories of Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre/Live Performance, Radio, Recording and Sports Entertainment.
They are chosen by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Selection Panel from among hundreds of nominations, then ratified by the chamber’s Board of Directors.
Dates for the unveiling ceremonies of each of their stars have yet to be determined.
The Class of 2025 honorees are:
- Motion Pictures: John Carpenter, Jessica Chastain, Bill Duke, Robert Englund, Emilio Estevez, Colin Farrell, Jane Fonda, Nia Long, Lisa Lu, Glynn Turman and Toni Vaz
- Television: Fran Drescher, Lauren Graham, Bill Nye, Molly Shannon, Sherri Shepherd, Courtney B. Vance, Chris Wallace, and “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone (double ceremony);
- Recording: Fantasia, Depeche Mode, Los Bukis, The B-52s, Green Day, The Isley Brothers, Busta Rhymes, George Strait, Keith Urban, WAR and Prince (posthumous);
- Live Theater/Live Performance: Misty Copeland and Alan Cumming
- Radio: Adam Carolla
“The Walk of Fame has made history again! I am thrilled to announce the distinguished honorees who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in the Class of 2025,” Peter Roth, chairman of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Selection Committee, said in a press release.
“Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields. The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”
Steven Nissen, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and Walk of Famers actors Niecy Nash, Joe Mantegna and music producer Jimmy Jam announced the new honorees at a live press conference. (With CNS report)
