Manny Jacinto to join cast of Disney’s ‘Freaky Friday 2’
After his role in “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” Filipino Canadian actor Manny Jacinto is gearing up for another major project.
Entertainment outlet Deadline reported that Jacinto is in talks to join Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in Disney’s “Freaky Friday 2.”
While Jacinto’s specific role in the sequel to the 2003 film remains undisclosed, the project has generated significant buzz, but Disney has declined to comment on the details.
According to Deadline, their source told them that the filming is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan expected to reprise their iconic roles as body-swapping mother Tess and daughter Anna. Moreover, Julia Butters is also in talks for a role.
Speculation about a “Freaky Friday” sequel started in October 2022 when Curtis revealed on “The View” that she had “already written to Disney” about continuing the story.
Adding to the fire, she shared a photo in March this year with Lohan on Instagram, tagging Disney, writing, “DUH! FFDEUX!”

The report further added that the sequel will be directed by Nisha Ganatra from a script by Jordan Weiss. The original film’s producer Andrew Gunn will return, joined by Kristin Burr.
“Freaky Friday,” based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 children’s book, tells the story of a teenager and her mother who magically swap bodies. It centers on Tess Coleman, a single mother and strict psychiatrist, and her rebellious teenage daughter, Anna. Following a mysterious fortune cookie incident, Tess and Anna magically swap bodies.
The 2003 adaptation starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan was a box office hit, grossing over $160 million worldwide.
It is yet to be decided whether the film will be released in theaters or on a streaming platform.
Recently, the Fil-Canadian actor can be seen in a new Star Wars series, “The Acolyte,” which Jacinto described as a childhood dream come true, saying “I just turned into a child again.”
