Fil-Canadian actor ventures into a galaxy far away in Star Wars’ ‘The Acolyte’
In a galaxy not so far away, the force is strong with Filipino Canadian actor Manny Jacinto as he prepares to make his mark in the forthcoming Star Wars series, “The Acolyte.”
Disney+, the streaming powerhouse, recently unveiled Jacinto’s role in this highly anticipated prequel to the iconic Star Wars saga.
Announcing the commencement of production for “The Acolyte,” Disney+ took to social media, declaring, “Production has begun on The Acolyte, an upcoming Original series from Star Wars coming to #DisneyPlus.”
Variety exclusively reported in 2020 that “The Acolyte” was in development and later that year, Lucasfilm made the official announcement at the annual “Star Wars” Day celebration.
Jacinto’s portrayal of the former smuggler, Qimir, injects a dynamic essence into an already stellar ensemble cast, including Korean sensation Lee Jung-jae as the revered Jedi master, Sol, and Amandla Stenberg, who evolves from Padawan to formidable warrior as Mae.
Equally noteworthy is Dafne Keen depicting Sol’s apprentice in a narrative brimming with mystery and intrigue.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The trailer hints at the involvement of Carrie-Anne Moss, set to grace the screen as Indara, a formidable Jedi master.
The series follows a respected Jedi Master (Lee) investigating a crime spree, confronting a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg). As they uncover more clues, they delve into a dark path where sinister forces unveil hidden truths. The series promises an enthralling journey through the High Republic era, exploring uncharted corners of the Star Wars universe.
“The Acolyte” stands as a testament to Disney+’s dedication to expanding the Star Wars mythos, following in the footsteps of predecessors such as “The Mandalorian” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
With production in full swing, fans eagerly anticipate embarking on this epic adventure, where sinister forces loom and the destiny of the galaxy hangs in the balance.
Jacinto, echoing the sentiment of anticipation, shares the official poster with the caption, “May The Fourth Be With You,” and the trailer, announcing, “The Acolyte arrives June 4th.”
