Bretman Rock recites ‘Panatang Makabayan’ for podcast mic check
“Hello, hello, testing one, two, three, yeah.”
One surprise after another, and Bretman Rock is leading the pack this Pride Month. But does reciting a few lines of “Panatang Makabayan” qualify as a surprise?
After boldly introducing his new beau, Justice Fester, to the world via Instagram, the Filipino American internet sensation is extending an invitation to his followers to join him on a new journey through an upcoming podcast.
Bretman’s podcast, aptly titled “Da Baddest Radio,” promises to be an intimate dive into his life, love and everything in between – even his relatable, funny remarks. He even hints that the podcast will offer deeper insights into the blossoming of his relationship with Fester.
On Instagram Stories (now expired), Bretman offers a sneak peek into his podcast preparations, revealing his dedication as he sits surrounded by professional equipment – mic poised, headphones in place – meticulously ensuring every element is flawless for his eager audience.
But that’s not all. During a mic check, Bretman paid homage to his Filipino heritage by reciting the first three lines of “Panatang Makabayan.” Though he stumbled slightly, his gesture carries significance, particularly as the Philippines prepares to commemorate its 126th Independence Day on June 12.
He recited, “Panatang Makabayan, iniibig ko ang Pilipinas, ito ang aking lupang sinilangan, yeah.”
The Filipino-born, Hawaii-raised social media star first teased about the podcast in the beginning of the month, posting glimpses of an indoor date with his new love interest with the caption, “Happy Pride Y’all!” reverberating with an unapologetic celebration of his identity. “I’m spending it being gay asf,” where fellow internet personality Landon Romano commented, “Oh wow this is very lgbt of you.”
Earlier this year, the Fil-Am personality received recognition for his significant contributions to both the Hawaiian and Filipino American communities. This event serves to underscore his position as a pioneer and champion for inclusivity and multiculturalism.
