Honored for his efforts in promoting both Hawaii and the Filipino American community, the Filipino-born, Hawaii-raised social media star received recognition at the state’s capitol in Honolulu.
Rep. Darius Kila took a moment to express his admiration for the young influencer’s endeavors. “As a young elected official, it is truly my honor to recognize the achievements of another young person,” Kila shared on his Instagram.
He further extended a message of support, affirming the Fil-Am content creator’s global impact and assuring him of a steadfast community of supporters wherever his journey takes him.

“Please know that wherever you go in the world, you have a community of supporters who are cheering you on every step of the way in Nānākuli, Waipahu, Ewa Beach, Waikīkī, in Hawai’i, and even here in the house chamber,” he added.
Reflecting on his journey from Ewa Beach to the global stage, Bretman took to Instagram sharing, “I never thought this would ever happen, I was just an Ewa Beach boy twerking behind the manupua truck, giving MTV crib tours of my high school, and singing my boba song everywhere.”

Bretman also gave a shoutout to Kila, whom he referred to as his friend, saying, “I love you 4 ever FRIEEEND. Thank you for letting me live my First Lady fantasy.”
Amid the ceremonial proceedings, Bretman found joy in spending moments with the Filipino Caucus. Embracing the camaraderie and cultural richness of the gathering, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him.
The highlight of the day—a feast featuring a special lechon—left Bretman feeling nothing short of regal, as he basked in the warmth of his community’s embrace, saying, “I really felt like a queen.”
