CUMMING, Georgia —  A 32-year-old Filipina mother of two shot and killed her husband and then turned the gun on herself last week.

Jackielyn Belangel Brewster of Cumming, shot and killed her husband, Adrian Lavaughn Brewster, 50, sometime over the weekend of August 18 then committed suicide early Monday, August 20, according to police. Authorities took the couple’s two young children to an undisclosed location.

Adrian Lavaughn Brewster was a teacher at Etowah High School in Forsyth County. According to Patch.com, the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to do a welfare check around 3:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at a home in the 5400 block of Memphis Street. .

The Brewster family suffered a previous tragedy nearly a year ago, when fire destroyed the family home in Cumming. A GoFundMe page was created to help the family following the blaze.
