Vanessa Hudgens takes the crown in ‘The Masked Singer’ season finale
Filipino American singer and actress Vanessa Hudgens has claimed victory in the 11th season of “The Masked Singer,” exuberantly stating, “What a time it was.”
The season finale aired on May 22 and showcased the “High School Musical” star’s rendition of Elton John’s classic hit “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” revealing that she was the “Goldfish” all along.

On the final night, Goldfish won over the runner-up, Gumball, who was later revealed to be actor Scott Porter, best known for his role as Jason Street in the NBC television drama “Friday Night Lights.”
The finale featured Porter singing “Latch” by Disclosure ft. Sam Smith and “Renegade” by Styx, while Hudgens performed “Heart of Glass” by Blondie before her winning performance of the Elton John hit.
For the uninitiated, “The Masked Singer” is a reality singing competition where celebrities perform in costumes and masks that conceal their identities. Each episode features performances accompanied by cryptic clue packages about the singers’ identities.
A panel of celebrity judges and the studio audience vote on their favorite performances, with the least popular performer being eliminated and unmasked at the end of the episode. This process continues until the final episode, where the last remaining masked singer is crowned the winner.
The judges, Rita Ora, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg and Robin Thicke, were often left guessing. However, Ora and McCarthy-Wahlberg correctly identified Hudgens as Goldfish.
The show’s Instagram page celebrated with a playful nod to Hudgens’ “High School Musical” days, posting: “T as in Troy? No, T as in THE winner of #TheMaskedSinger!”
