Greyson Chance returns with heartfelt song honoring lost loved ones

A decade or more ago, the YouTube search bar was filled with results related to the 14-year-old singer-songwriter Greyson Chance — searches for lyrics to his hit song “Waiting Outside The Lines,” which also featured a remix version with the Filipino singer, now known as Jake Zyrus, formerly Charice.

Now, in 2024, the “Palladium” singer-songwriter from Oklahoma emerges once again, this time with an introspective piano ballad titled “Rearview Mirror,” signaling the dawn of a new era in his musical journey.

The official audio for “Rearview Mirror” offers a glimpse into his personal archives, featuring a montage of intimate moments captured through personal photographs.

Speaking about the layout, Chance reveals on X (formerly Twitter), “I made this video for ‘Rearview Mirror’ using some stock footage & old family photos I had lying around… go give it a spin.”

In a separate post, he posted a video showing his gratitude and sharing how meaningful the song is to him. He shared, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The song really does mean a lot to me. I’ve been working hard the past year-and-a-half behind the scenes just to make sure the music is as good as it possibly can be.”

The 26-year-old artist added that he felt like a “17-year-old Greyson” and felt that his younger self would be proud with the latest song.

Moreover he expressed that he dedicated the song to all the people he had lost in the past few years, specifically her grandparents and her great aunt. Reflecting on the creative process, Chance emphasizes the significance of introspection and growth in his career.

In “Rearview Mirror,” he unveils a deeply personal narrative, inviting listeners to accompany him on a reflective voyage from his past to his present. Departing from the exuberance of his youth, the singer embraces a more mature, introspective sound, marked by his signature blend of indie and pop influences.
