The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is making a last call for nominees for the 2024 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO).

The PAFIOO awards are conferred by the president of the Philippines every two years to honor and recognize individuals and organizations abroad who contribute to Philippine development initiatives and promote the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora overseas.

Since 1991, a total of 541 awards have been given out by the presidents of the Republic of the Philippines to individuals and organizations from 55 countries and territories.

Original copies of the duly endorsed nominations and supporting documents must be submitted to the Philippine Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) in Manila no later than May 30, 2024 (Philippine Time). For more information, visit the PAFIOO website.

All nominations shall be coursed through the Philippine embassy or consulate general that has jurisdiction over the place of residence, work or operations of the nominated individual or organization.

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco covers Alaska, Northern and Central California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington State and Wyoming.

Since all nominees are required to secure two documents from the consulate –  an endorsement form and a certificate of no derogatory record, all prospective nominees in the above-mentioned US states are requested to send the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco an email at [email protected] expressing their intent to be a nominee and with soft copies of the other documentary requirements no later than Friday, May 10, 2024, 12 noon (Pacific Time).

Individuals and organizations that are unable to send an email to the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco by the given date and time will not be issued an endorsement form and a certificate of no derogatory record, according to the Consulate announcement.

The nomination period will close on May 30, 2024.

The PAFIOO has four award categories:

  1. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝘄𝗮 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 (𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗟) 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions to the development of a particular sector/local community in the Philippines.
  2. 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – This award is conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions in the host country that have benefited and advanced the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.
  3. 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – conferred on overseas Filipino individuals who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.
  4. 𝗞𝗮𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗯 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – conferred only for foreign individuals (natural-born) or foreign organizations for their significant contributions to Philippine development or a particular sector/local community in the country and for advancing the cause of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.
