In recent years, the famous Boston Marathon has drawn the participation of notable Filipino personalities, adding to its international allure being the world’s oldest annual marathon.

This year, the marathon made its comeback and once again captured the attention of the world as it unfolded on April 15. It witnessed the convergence of over 29,000 runners from across 118 countries.

Reflecting on her participation, Robredo offered candid observations in the post, likening the tracking app Strava to a discerning Asian parent and highlighting the performance of the footwear brand Metaspeed Paris.

“Strava is like an Asian parent who says you could’ve done more when you think you did ok lol,” she wrote, numbering the statement as her first point.

“Metaspeed Paris lives up to the hype!! Raced in vapor flys last year but found asics comfier for my flat feet. also that colorway pls,” she continued.

The Filipina doctor from Harvard also reflected on her conversation with her coach, Joe, recalling his initial hesitation when she mentioned the 5K race, a sentiment she now understands all too well.

“Coach Joe was kinda iffy (all love!!) when I told him about this 5K & now I understand why. it felt more brutal than a half?! still a fun first time (crossing the boston marathon finish line was an xp) but i dont think im doing another soon,” she remarked as her third statement regarding the stint.

Robredo admitted that the experience surpassed her expectations in intensity, even likening it to the rigors of a half marathon. Despite the exhilarating experience, Robredo also hinted that another Boston Marathon might not be imminent on her agenda, as she eagerly anticipates her next challenge at the RBC Brooklyn Half in May.

Other Filipino stars like mother-and-daughter tandem Maricel and Hannah Pangilinan also participated, playfully describing the run as “TakBoston.” The marathon was also Maricel’s first world major marathon, completing all six World Marathon Majors at 54.
