Original stars Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant, reprising their roles as Bridget Jones and Daniel Cleaver respectively, are gearing up for the next chapter in the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” series, confirmed by Universal Pictures and Working Title Films.

Joining the cast are newcomers in the film Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall, alongside Emma Thompson, making her eagerly anticipated return to the series after nearly eight years.

Under the direction of Michael Morris and with Fielding herself penning the script, expectations soar for this long-awaited reunion.

Set four years after the events of the previous film in 2016, the new movie delves into Bridget Jones’s journey as she navigates fresh romantic paths. Following the loss of Mark Darcy, Bridget finds herself once again embarking on the rollercoaster ride of love, this time with a younger suitor portrayed by Woodall.

In the prior films, audiences were introduced to Bridget, a single woman navigating her thirties, portrayed by two-time Oscar winner Zellweger. Caught in a love triangle, she found herself torn between Daniel Cleaver, played by Grant, her former boss, and Mark Darcy, portrayed by Colin Firth, her ex-best friend.

The subsequent films, “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” (2004) and “Bridget Jones’s Baby” (2016), continued to capture viewers with Bridget’s romantic escapades and comical mishaps. The cliffhanger of the third film, leaving the fate of Daniel Cleaver uncertain, sets the stage for the upcoming installment.

The comeback of Bridget Jones is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day 2025.
