Two-time Emmy winner to host show promoting global Filipinos
LOS ANGELES—Bullied as a child and started life with humble beginnings, Filipino-American producer Marc Anthony Nicolas‘ journey to success has been marked by challenges that have shaped him into the resilient individual he is today. These adversities have not only made him strong but have also driven him to work harder to achieve his American dream—a narrative that adds a compelling angle to his story.
Marc is set to premiere his new show, “Make Your Marc,” on GMA Pinoy TV starting March 24. The network, which reaches Filipinos worldwide, will serve as the platform for his latest venture. The show, created by the two-time Emmy-winning TV producer, aims to present Filipino stories and experiences to a global audience, with the goal of inspiring viewers and celebrating the Filipino community.
In 2019, Marc was honored with an induction into the prestigious Asian Hall of Fame, recognizing his contributions to the entertainment industry and his impact on the Asian community.
Nicolas’ background includes work on major American talk shows like “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Tyra Banks Show,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” and “The Talk.” This isn’t his first foray into hosting, as he previously hosted a show called “On Your Marc” on the Lifetime Channel many years ago. Now, he’s leveraging his experience to bring Filipino-focused content to a global audience.
Nicolas managed to balance producing CBS’ “The Talk” with his new project, “Make Your Marc,” by working on the latter during evenings and weekends. “I’ve learned to manage my time effectively to ensure both shows are produced with care and quality,” he said during our brief interview.
When asked why he chose GMA Pinoy TV as the home for his new show, he explained that it was a deliberate decision. “It’s a network that resonates with my family and me. It’s an effective way to share our stories with the world,” he said.
“Make Your Marc” aims not only to tell stories but also to make a difference in the community and encourage a culture of giving back. Nicolas hopes to connect with the audience through stories that are both relevant and engaging.
Working with Filipinos holds special significance for the accomplished TV host. “Celebrating our shared Filipino heritage makes this project very personal to me,” he confessed.
R.D. Alba, who helped direct some of the episodes, expressed, “It’s always a joy with Marc! He’s always fun and sincere. He showcases the Fil-Am community globally who are well deserved.”
For executive producer Chris Gordon, the passion behind the project is inspiring. “Our team’s enthusiasm for storytelling creates a unique atmosphere. Marc’s hosting skills, combined with our commitment to uplifting stories, will definitely resonate with our audience,” he said.
The series will feature inspiring stories from notable Filipinos, including vocal artist Ranella Ferrer; fashion designer Kenneth Barlis; health advocate Maricris Lapaix; culinary star Alvin Cailan; TOFA luminaries such as Boy Abunda and Jessica Soho; this columnist; entrepreneur Sandro Roco; educator Joseph Alvarico; healthcare hero Dr. Audrey Sue Cruz; America’s Favorite Dermatologist Dr. Tess Mauricio; and professional dancer Patrick Packing.
Marc’s dedication to storytelling and showcasing the diversity of the Filipino experience reflects his commitment to uplifting the community and making a difference through his work. His personal journey from adversity to achievement serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that resilience and hard work can lead to success.
Don’t miss the premiere of “Make Your Marc” on March 24 at 4 PM Pacific/7 PM Eastern on GMA Pinoy TV, as Nicolas invites viewers to join him on a journey of discovery, celebration and empowerment. Get ready to Make Your Marc!
