Global landmarks light up for International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day, the focus is on inspiring inclusion and investing in the potential of women.

In a global effort to raise awareness and honor women all around the globe, landmarks worldwide are aglow with shades of purple. Fostering collaboration among organizations, this move aims to spotlight the importance of women’s equality.

Partnering with the humanitarian organization CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere), renowned structures like the One World Trade Center, Eiffel Tower Las Vegas and Niagara Falls are joining the endeavor.

This initiative is part of the “She Leads the World” campaign, launched by CARE on March 1, emphasizing the pivotal role of women and girls in driving positive change.

In a statement, Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE, underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting gender equality and social justice.

“This year’s theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ resonates with the #SheLeadsTheWorld campaign, encouraging individuals to share stories of inspiring women. As these landmarks light up in purple hues, they serve as symbols of unity and progress, urging communities worldwide to join the movement towards gender equality.”

The She Leads the World advocacy, centered on sharing stories of inspirational women leaders, is spearheaded by renowned photographer, creative director and CARE Global Advisory Council Member, Nigel Barker.
