“What I got to say, what I got to do,” resonates as two proud Filipinos bring Filipino talent to the world once more.
Filipino American rapper Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas and Korean singer-actress Sandara Park, who always sees the Philippines as her home, have officially unveiled their collaboration song, titled “2 Proud.”
On March 8, the duo dropped their single along with its accompanying music video, directed by Ben Mor, on YouTube.

Expressing his excitement for the project, the former The Voice of the Philippines coach shared on social media, “[Sandara] and I have wanted to work together for years. We had been discussing songs that might work, and wouldn’t you know, during the pandemic, we finally got the track. I love it and I hope you do too.”
Apl.de.Ap and Park reunited after their appearance on Will.i.am’s track “Gettin’ Dumb” in 2013, during which Park was a member of the K-pop girl group 2NE1.
Meanwhile, Park, equally enthusiastic about the collaboration, revealed the challenges of creating the music video amid pandemic restrictions.
She explained, “Fyi, I don’t have much exposure in the video of ‘2 Proud.’ It was in 2020 when we first talked about this collaboration, and [Apl] asked me to go to LA to record the song and shoot the video. I was super excited! BUT, you know, that was when the pandemic started and I couldn’t leave the country.”

Undeterred by obstacles, the 2NE1 member demonstrated resilience by recording her parts in Korea and filming against a chroma key backdrop.
“So I had no choice but to record it in Korea and shoot the video in a chroma key and send it to [Apl]. And that’s how we made this music! It wasn’t an easy process, but I really love the song! And it came out really nice. I love Apl.de.Ap’s music so much. Hope you guys will like it too! So happy to finally release it!” she added.
In the comment section, the Fil-Am rapper teased that there would be a dance routine coming soon, and mentioned that they “need to perform this soon.”
