Are you enjoying Niki’s popular hits like “Take a Chance with Me,” “Backburner,” or her latest track, “24”? Maybe you’re vibing to Filipino US-based artist Ylona Garcia’s “Entertain Me” or GOT7 Jackson Wang’s “Blow”?

These artists all share a common connection with the record label 88rising, known for promoting Asian American and Asian artists in the United States.

Recently, they hosted their first “Moonrise Gala” to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The event welcomed guests like Niki, Anderson .Paak, Jackson Wang, and Destin Daniel Cretton, among others.

Expressing gratitude on Instagram, the music label thanked the community for their support and stated, “Thank you to the community who came together to create new traditions with us and make our first ever gala so special.”

1. Ylona Garcia

The Pinoy Big Brother 737 runner-up has collaborated on projects with the music label before. After venturing further into the global music scene, the “Win the Fight” singer-songwriter has released hits such as “Entertain Me,” with over 34 million streams on Spotify, “Vibin” with over 4 million streams, and “Don’t Go Changing” with over 8 million streams. Joining the inaugural event with 88rising left her feeling excited.

2. Liza Soberano

Fresh from the success of her Hollywood film debut “Lisa Frankenstein,” Soberano also graced the red carpet in a Dennis Lustico-designed terno. She shared some snaps on her Instagram with the caption “First-ever Moon Rising Gala! Thanks for having me [88rising].”

3. Jocelyn Enriquez

During the event, 90s dance music icon and the first Filipino American artist to achieve mainstream success, Jocelyn Enriquez, was presented with a lifetime achievement award. Clad in Veejay Floresca attire, Enriquez found herself still processing the moment.

She shared on Instagram, “From walking the red carpet to performing, receiving recognition as an honoree, and being surrounded by numerous talented and influential legends alongside today’s Asian artists, it’s been surreal. And to think, my custom gown and performance outfit were completed in less than 24 hours… This experience is truly unforgettable, and I believe I’ll be savoring it for quite some time.”

4. Invisibl Skratch Piklz

Just like Enriquez, Invisibl Skratch Piklz also received an award for their contribution to the music scene. The four legendary hip hop turntablists proudly donned matching black barongs as they graciously accepted the award on behalf of all DJs.

In a joint post they shared, “Thank you, @88rising, for honoring the legendary DJ crew, Invisibl Skratch Piklz, and recognizing their unparalleled contributions to the entertainment industry.”

5. Guapdad4000

Proud of his Filipino roots, Fil-Am rapper Guadpad4000 also attended the gala night. In an interview with KQED, he shared how being raised by his grandparents influenced his creative process, leading him to release a song titled “Chicken Adobo.”

6. Eyedress

Emerging Filipino singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer Eyedress also took to the 88rising stage for a performance, and later described the event as a “wonderful evening.”
