Manila Grey’s new track ‘Meant 2 Be’ is for romanticizing your life
Romantic love may snatch the spotlight when February arrives, but it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate other forms of love. If you’ve forgotten about it, sometimes all it takes is a look in the mirror and a song like “Meant 2 Be” by Manila Grey.
For those who are all about self-love, spending time with your circles, and just romanticizing your life in general, the Filipino-Canadian duo’s release might be worth adding to your playlist.
On Feb. 7, Manila Grey dropped their newest single called “Meant 2 Be.” The R&B/hip-hop act also shared their time on Facebook Live prior to the release and interacted with their listeners.
Sure, the track’s title is often heard when talking about romance tropes, but the phrase finds its way through the song in this context: “We’re exactly where we’re meant to be.” It celebrates the present while also honoring the past (“I still pray for my enemies”) and the future (“This [is] one for the memories”), and not disregarding the unpredictability of life (“Only set backs if you can’t adapt to changes”).
While immersed in an easily eargasmic soundscape, we’re given a song that not only boosts our trust in ourselves but also pushes us to appreciate our circles, and rekindles the love left untapped for life’s mundane moments. The visuals of its lyric video—a compilation of Soliven and GhostrideNeeko performing, spending time with people, and just having fun—also add to the song’s overall vibe. Just like what they said: “It’s love around the room.”
During the pre-release, the duo also expressed their excitement about the track on TikTok.

Back in January, Manila Grey also let listeners get reflective with an acoustic version of “100 With You.”
