The key to keeping quality relationships never seems to be a one-size-fits-all thing. In terms of romantic commitment, the topic even gets more complicated—there’s never a single foolproof way to keep long-term relationships strong. What people usually think of, though, is maintaining the “spark” (which usually refers to excitement) in relationships would most likely help.

If you find yourself in the same dilemma, Manila Grey’s latest offering might be something your listening rotation needs. In case you missed it, the Filipino-Canadian duo (composed of Justin Soliven Villarosa and Neal Zabala or GhostrideNeeko) from the R&B/hip-hop territory dropped “100 With You” just before we bid goodbye to 2023.

The fresh track, which Soliven and GhostrideNeeko co-wrote with Payden Elliott Crossley, takes its listeners to the POV of someone in a relationship. In a mood that treads between hopeful and somewhat anxious, “100 With You” talks about how the couple work on reciprocating each other’s fullest efforts and energies. The person talking also acknowledges the obvious cracks they’ve had in the past, especially the ones they caused (“I made my mistakes, you forgave me / Could’ve lost a love that I couldn’t replace”).

But just when you thought you could already sense the tinges of pain in your first listen, these artists knew they could even amp it up. On Jan. 3, Manila Grey released a full acoustic version of the single on YouTube and SoundCloud, letting its listeners welcome an avalanche of more emotions.

While the song can definitely fit in your gloomy-themed playlist, this new version also strangely offers a more serene atmosphere. Thanks to the intimate vocals and overall chilly soundscape, the acoustic version can also help one cap off your day (or whatever’s left of your 2023).

Aside from Manila Grey, we’ve come up with a list of other Filipino-Canadian musicians that deserve your attention.
