New York/New Jersey has clinched the hosting rights for the 2026 World Cup final, set to take place at the iconic MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, the home of the National Football League’s New York Giants and New York Jets.
Announced on Sunday, the governing body revealed that New York’s bid successfully fended off a challenge from Dallas, sealing the fate of the July 19 climax.

In their official release, FIFA stated that the upcoming finale will be the “biggest-ever FIFA World Cup,” providing the framework for the 104-game tournament featuring 48 teams across 16 host cities in three countries— Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The city won the bid by showcasing its experience in hosting major events and being a global city with easy travel for fans. The stadium, opened in 2010, with a capacity of 82,500.

Meanwhile, the soccer games are set to kick off on June 11 at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium, which will make history as the first venue to host World Cup tournament games in three separate editions, following 1970 and 1986.
