This first-of-its-kind public specialized high school set to operate in March 2028 aims to cultivate talents who will contribute to the global phenomenon.

Recognizing the need for specialized education in applied arts, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, as reported by Korea.net, has emphasized the rising demand for a curriculum tailored to schools specializing in practical arts.

“K-pop-related industries continue to grow but we lack educational institutions specialized in education on applied arts related to K-pop, plus implementation of a curriculum related to schools specializing in practical arts education to foster K-pop talent is growingly needed,” the office stated.

The school plans to offer comprehensive lessons covering singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments among others.

Adding to the anticipation is the school’s international appeal, welcoming both local and foreign students. However, it’s also important to note that recruitment will primarily target graduates from middle schools.

To ensure global success, the Korea Tourism Organization and the National Institute for International Education will collaborate closely with the education agency.

The school will find its home at the soon-to-be-closed Garak Middle School in the Gangseo-gu District.

Notably, we witnessed Filipinos emerging victorious in their respective survival shows last year—from the all-Filipino global pop group Hori7on and Dream Academy’s Sophia Laforteza to newcomers Elisia Parmisano, Gehlee Dangca, and Jin Hyeonju, who have recently secured debut spots in Universe Ticket.
