This California-based burger spot was ranked as one of America’s best workplaces
Just when we thought a fast food chain is just good for its burgers and fries, surprisingly it can be a good workplace too. In-N-Out burger was ranked by Glassdoors as one of the best places to work in the US.
Job seekers and burger lovers, this burger empire isn’t just flipping patties, it’s also redefining the workplace with its employees’ high job satisfaction ratings.
Curious how they made it to the top 10 of Glassdoor’s 2024 list of best places to work in the US? Their employees have spoken — praising their workplace.
The job/company reviews and forum site rank this California-based burger joint high for its flexible schedules, good pay and free meals for every shift.
While Bay Area tech giants like ServiceNow (3rd), Nvidia (2nd) and VMware (7th) land the top tier on the list, In-N-Out hit the 6th place jumping four spots from 2023’s ranking.

Meanwhile, the no.1 spot went to consulting firm Bain & Company. Tech behemoths Google and Apple are at 26th and 39th, respectively, on this year’s ranking.
Degrees aren’t required but smiles are essential
In-N-Out’s ticket to success isn’t just about numbers, it’s their goal to serve food with smiles — even with their long lines. Unlike its tech counterparts, they don’t require degrees, just passion and hospitality.
Although tech empires offer bigger salaries that come with their required degrees, Glassdoor estimates one In-N-Out new store employee from Napa rakes in $22.75 per hour — a far cry from Nvidia’s entry-level engineers earning six figures, according to levels.fyi.
Yet, in the battle for the best places to work in the US, In-N-Out boasts a 0.1 percent close fight with Nvidia. The burger joint is at 4.6 Glassdoor rating while the tech giant is at 4.7.
Here’s the catch: Glassdoor came up with this list based on the feedback of anonymous US employees from October 18, 2022 to October 16, 2023. The site used a “proprietary algorithm” considering the quality, quantity and consistency of employee reviews.

According to Glassdoor, about 85 percent of In-N-Out alums would recommend the company to a job seeker. Not to mention, 92 percent of reviewers gave the burger chain’s owner, Lynsi Snyder, a thumbs up.
Furthermore, the burger empire’s perks are as scrumptious as their Double-Double, “Vision and dental insurance, legal advice, sick/vacation pay. Profit sharing via 401k and insurance. Training,” one review from Glassdoor said.
