Filipino racer Zach David gears up for Formula Regional in 2024
While McLaren’s first Filipina driver Bianca Bustamante and the “Fast Filipino” racer Iñigo Anton are making names for themselves in motorsports, the Philippines is not running out of ammunition in this field, with another young speedster, Zach David, joining the roster.
In a move that signals his ascent up the motorsports hierarchy, the 16-year-old racer is set to compete in both the Formula Regional Middle East and Formula Regional European Championships in the 2024 season.

The campaign will see David navigate a hectic schedule of 15 events across different tracks from January to October this year.
The Formula Regional series, positioned as a crucial step in the FIA Global Pathway to Formula 1, bridges Formula 4 and the higher echelons of motorsport, including Formula 3 and Formula 2.
Here is Zach David’s timeline of racing events
The very first Filipino driver in the ADAC F4 Championship’s journey will kick off in the desert heat as he takes on professional and amateur drivers in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship from January to February and will unfold over five rounds at the Yas Marina Circuit and the Dubai Autodrome.
Following the Middle Eastern challenge, David will focus on the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine that features 10 gripping rounds across some of Europe’s most legendary circuits, including Belgium’s Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Austria’s Red Bull Ring.

David’s entry into Formula Regional follows a standout rookie year in the 2022 Formula 4 UAE Championship where he achieved his maiden victory at Kuwait Motor Town and secured multiple wins and podium finishes, ultimately finishing 5th in the Rookies category.
In an Instagram post, the Filipino racer wrote, “From [the] starting line to the podium, cheers to a remarkable season!”
