Fil-Canadian dance masterpiece set to go global
As we step into December, the anticipation for Co.ERASGA’s dance production “Accumulation” continues to build. Having successfully premiered at Performance Works on Granville Island in Vancouver from Nov. 9 to 11, the dance company is gearing up to showcase its thought-provoking performance on the global stage.
From the Fang Mae Khong International Dance Festival in Vientiane, Laos, on Dec. 11 to the Kuris Festival in Bacolod, Philippines, and the Coopdanza Inc. SIE Indigenous and Media Arts Festival in Bogota, Colombia, in 2024. Ottawa will also experience the magic in October 2024 at the Arts Court.

Founded by the Filipino-Canadian dance artist Alvin Erasga Tolentino, Co.ERASGA, celebrates its 23rd year of pushing boundaries and exploring themes of cultural identity, gender, and now environmental stewardship.
This collaborative masterpiece, involving composer Emmanuel Mailly, sculptor Marc Gerenton, costume designer Meagan Woods, and lighting designer Tory Ip, intertwines movement, sound, costumes, sculpture, and found objects. The performance prompts audiences to confront environmental degradation and envision a sustainable future.

Looking forward, Co.ERASGA is planning an exciting full-evening production in collaboration with choreographers Alvin Collantes and Naishi Wang, titled “What on Earth?,” addressing climate change.
