We’re ready to devour Eli Roth’s holiday horror slasher ‘Thanksgiving’
Whether you’re a horror movie junkie or just dabbling in the genre, you’ve probably heard of director, producer, and screenwriter Eli Roth.
Since the early 2000s, Roth has been bringing obscure and unconventional storylines to the big screen. His directorial work includes the sleeper hit “Cabin Fever” and fantasy-comedy film “The House with a Clock in Its Walls” starring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.
This month, Roth is returning to his spooky roots for the holidays with new slasher flick “Thanksgiving” in which he puts a spine-tingling spin on the long-running traditions of family get-togethers, homecoming celebrations, and turkey on the dinner table.
The film hinges on a masked serial killer dressed like a pilgrim who targets the residents of Plymouth, Massachusetts on Thanksgiving Day. He invades homes and blends in with crowds at Thanksgiving parades, instilling fear and distrust all over the town.
“Thanksgiving” started as a mock trailer that Roth produced in 2007 for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double-feature “Grindhouse.”
Now a full-length movie 26 years later, Roth took inspiration from previous slasher films like “Halloween” and “Scream” to bring “Thanksgiving” to life. He shared more of his inspirations for his new movie in a behind-the-scenes featurette to prepare viewers for the theatrical release of “Thanksgiving” on Nov. 17.

“I want to create a movie that’s so exciting and terrifying that every Thanksgiving dinner, someone brings it up,” he says. Given his previous contributions to the horror genre, viewers can look forward to more of Roth’s gruesome and bloody storylines in “Thanksgiving” this month.
