Grentperez releases ‘Christmas Starts Tonight’ as an early holiday gift
Christmas always comes early in the Philippines. Globally, the festivities supposedly don’t start until December, but for Filipinos, they come three months in advance, celebrating the holiday season as early as September.
Families and friends rekindle the holiday spirit as soon as the “ber months” begin, making ample time for advanced Christmas endeavors such as gift-shopping and sprucing up the house with festive decor.
For Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter grentperez, Christmas comes in the form of a new song. On Nov. 1, he released his latest single “Christmas Starts Tonight” on all streaming platforms. The four-minute song infuses classical and acoustic instrumentals with mellow vibes that warmly welcome the season of giving.

“Christmas Starts Tonight” represents grentperez’s own meaning of the beloved holiday—spending time with loved ones with gifts and laughter. He adds, “It’s about the excitement that comes with the season, the feeling of wonder and cheer with every passing day that leads to Christmas night.”
He released the single five months after his seven-track debut EP “When We Were Younger,” which carries the influences of his childhood tunes by Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, and The Bee Gees.
Similarly, one can relate “Christmas Starts Tonight” with Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” a holiday staple together with Mariah Carey’s timeless hit “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

Grentperez accompanies the launch of “Christmas Starts Tonight” with the philosophy that “you can make Christmas every day if you want to,” not just in December. Sure enough, the four-minute track is a heartwarming new addition to everyone’s holiday playlists.
