‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ streams spike, thanks to Filipino lambs
While the holiday season is still technically three months away in various parts of the world, here in the Philippines, we enthusiastically kick off the Christmas fever on Sept. 1.
Weeks before the calendar even turned to September, numerous Christmas memes were already popping up all over social media, featuring the faces of Jose Mari Chan and Mariah Carey with their most recognizable holiday tunes. Just as iconic as Jose Mari Chan’s “Christmas In Our Hearts,” Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” remains on par as one of the staple Christmas songs.
Feeling the holiday spirit already, Filipinos have been blasting their speakers with “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” causing it to suddenly rack up over 316,000 streams on Spotify on the first day of the month, which is a 75 percent increase compared to the same day in 2022.

Mariah’s reaction?
On X (formerly Twitter), the five-time Grammy winner exclaimed, “Not yet!!!!” indicating that the Christmas season had not yet begun.

“I’ll allow it for my Filipino lambs[,] though!” she added. “I don’t make the rules!”
The track was played 112,040 times in the Philippines on Sept. 1, ranking as the 82nd most streamed song in the country for that day, based on Spotify Charts.
