Angat Buhay USA sets up fundraising for underprivileged Pinoy students
In a move to extend their unwavering support to Filipinos, Angat Buhay Foundation USA Inc. is set to have a fundraising event and round table discussion for disadvantaged Filipino students.
The initiative, as reported by The FilAm and announced by Executive Director Roger Santos of New Jersey in conjunction with Chairperson Atty. Leni Robredo, represents a significant step towards advancing advocacies in public health, public education, disaster relief, and rehabilitation, as well as community engagement.
The focal point of this forthcoming fundraising event in the US will be Angat Buhay’s Education Infrastructure Program, specifically aimed at addressing the challenges faced by schools in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
The foundation further intends to provide much-needed dormitories to students living in these remote areas, thereby eliminating barriers to education. Additionally, the initiative seeks to create conducive learning environments by supplying public elementary schools with new classrooms.
This endeavor comes as the Angat Buhay Foundation USA Inc. cements its role as the first international partner of former Vice President Robredo’s foundation, which bears the same name.
The announcement was made during her recent visit to the US, where she participated in a series of speaking engagements, including keynoting at the UP Alumni Association homecoming and being honored with The Outstanding Filipinos Awards.
As of 2023, the foundation supports a network of 197,000 classrooms across the Philippines. This underscores the significant impact the foundation has had on education in the country and its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for marginalized communities.
