“Kasama is the best Filipino dining experience ever. Bar none,” says acclaimed actress Dolly De Leon on social media. “Had their dinner tasting menu in Chicago and kept pinchin myself to check if it was all a dream.”

To see the first Filipino restaurant with a Michelin star serve dinner to the first Filipino actress with a BAFTA nomination is the stuff of *our* dreams, too, but definitely real, as De Leon’s post shows. And it is certainly proof too that Filipinos are thriving all over the world.

The restaurant, previously featured in an episode of the hit series “The Bear,” is helmed by Tim Flores and Genie Kwon, who have already made waves in the culinary world by clinching the prestigious title of Best Chef at the James Beard Awards. Kasama is also the world’s first Michelin-star Filipino restaurant.

Kasama’s tasting menu showcased a culinary journey through 13 exquisite dishes. “Kinilaw” began the adventure with caviar, kampachi, and coconut, leading to an array of delights such as “Pulutan” featuring lumpia, talaba, and chicharrón; “Nilaga” with cabbage, bone marrow, and short-grain rice; and “Adobo” combining maitake, scallop, and mussel emulsion.

The experience continued with “Sinigang,” “Inasal,” “Pancit en Su Tinta,” “Kare-Kare,” and “Bistek,” each dish presenting a unique facet of Filipino cuisine. Finally, the meal concluded sweetly with “Truffle Croissant,” “Banana-Cue,” “Halo-Halo,” and “Mignardises.”

De Leon’s visit to Kasama underlines the global acclaim of Filipino cuisine, where diners are welcomed to an extraordinary culinary experience that both honors tradition and embraces innovation.
