In Las Vegas, October is officially proclaimed as Filipino American History Month
In an official and historic gesture, Las Vegas has officially declared October as Filipino American History Month.
This proclamation was made by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman who highlighted the valuable contributions of the Filipino-American community to the city.
The proclamation, signed on Oct. 1, was read at a special ceremony held at City Hall on Oct. 10. The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders within the Filipino-American community, including members of the Nevada chapter of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations. These individuals have played pivotal roles in shaping the community and the city of Las Vegas.
In her proclamation, Goodman called upon all residents and visitors to join her in recognizing and celebrating Filipino American History Month throughout October.
This is a testament to Las Vegas’ appreciation for the Filipino citizens residing in the city and the heritage they bring. It also signifies the city’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and cultural understanding.
Goodman’s proclamation is a reminder that Las Vegas recognizes and values the Filipino-American community’s contributions to the city’s past, present, and future.
By celebrating Filipino American History Month, the Entertainment Capital of the World not only pays homage to history but also embraces the continued growth and prosperity of the entire community, fostering an inclusive and culturally diverse environment for all.
