In a thrilling development for film enthusiasts worldwide, Filipino film “In My Mother’s Skin” is set to terrify audiences across more than 240 countries when it streams on Prime Video starting Oct.12.

This haunting horror-fairytale, which first sent shivers down spines at the Sundance Film Festival in January, promises a chilling cinematic experience. Following its Sundance debut, the film embarked on a festival journey in more 10 prestigious film festivals, including Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea, Fantasia Festival in Canada, Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland, and Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Set against the backdrop of post-World War II Philippines, “In My Mother’s Skin” tells the harrowing tale of Tala, a teenage girl grappling with the burden of caring for her ailing mother, Ligaya. Desperate to save her mother, the 14-year-old strikes a deal with a malevolent, forest-dwelling fairy who grants her a magical insect that momentarily eases Ligaya’s suffering.
