Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Guts’ claims top spot on Billboard albums chart
Bet you’ve already picked your own anthem from Olivia Rodrigo’s latest album “Guts.”
With emotionally charged lyrics and relatable themes, the Grammy winner’s new album shot straight to number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
This is her second number one album following her 2021 debut “Sour.” With this achievement, the 20-year-old Filipino-American singer and actress becomes the first female artist in nine years to achieve back-to-back number one entries on the chart with her first two entries, a feat previously accomplished by Ariana Grande in 2013 and 2014.
Rodrigo took to Instagram to express her feelings about debuting at the top spot of the chart. “I’m grateful all the fucking time. thank u guys for the most love filled, exciting week. last slide is how I feel rn.”

In an interview with People on Sept. 17, the “Vampire” songstress shares that she frequently draws inspiration from her personal experiences, transforming her own ups and downs into sing-along anthems that connect with a broader audience beyond Gen Z, including fathers.
“I actually think that I’m really excited by the way that people are getting behind artists that normally would be deemed for young people,” she says.
“I love interacting with fans who are my age and people who are going through the struggles that I’m going through in real time, but it’s been really fun also to experience those girls’ dads be like, ‘Wow, I remember when I was going through that heartbreak.’”
The “High School Musical” alum remarks that “people are starting to take teenage girl music a little more seriously,” which makes her happy.

In the latest Billboard 200 rankings, BTS’ V makes his debut at the second spot with “Layover,” and Tyler Childers’ “Rustin’ in the Wind” enters the chart at tenth.
