P-pop groups have been on the rise recently, and they’re showing what Filipino talents are made of not only locally but also internationally.

One of the leading P-pop boy groups, BGYO, is all set to make your world stop in Toronto for the highly anticipated 1MX Music Festival. But before the five-member boy band from ABS-CBN storms the Budweiser Stage on Sept. 10, here are five essential tracks that will help you get to know the “Aces of P-pop” and make your time in Toronto one of the best core memories ever.

“Magnet”

BGYO proves their ability to explore diverse concepts with their electrifying comeback song “Magnet.” Choreographed by Filipino-American dancer Brian Puspos, who has also directed tracks for international stars such as BTS and Justin Bieber, “Magnet” has an addicting sound that delves into the theme of a love that is hard to resist.

“Tumitigil ang Mundo”

In their quest to create music that is originally Filipino, “Tumitigil ang Mundo” can arguably be considered one of their best songs. With a music video shot in a popular theme park in the country, the song captures the feeling when your world suddenly stops upon seeing that special someone.

“He’s Into Her”

After being used as the official soundtrack for the hit series of the same title, “He’s Into Her” depicts the fresh and youthful vibe of BGYO, making everyone reminisce about their first love in school.

“Panahon”

In addition to their hard-hitting electropop tracks, BGYO’s take on sentimentality exhibits a versatility that is perhaps necessitated among musical groups today. ‘Panahon’ is one such song that is about overcoming doubts and waiting for the right moment—something that the members have also been doing.

“The Light”

Capping off the list is their debut single “The Light.” Having made a grand entrance into the local music scene in 2021, “The Light” has already been adapted into different versions, both in terms of language and musical arrangement. You can enjoy listening to its Thai, Spanish, Japanese, and Bahasa Indonesia ones, while marveling at how they were able to pull off the rearranged rock version, live.
