Filipino diner lands on 2023 Michelin Guide Toronto list
A Filipino diner is on the list of 12 eating spots newly included in the 2023 MICHELIN Guide Toronto selection.
Michelin Guide inspectors, who spend all year traveling to uncover the best restaurants to recommend, named BB’s in Toronto among their choices.
“From neighborhood gems to the hidden spots with haute leanings, the newest additions to Toronto’s selection are brimming with flavor and individuality,” Michelin states.
BB’s at 1566 Queen Street West in Toronto’s Parkdale neighborhood is described as a “groovy Filipino diner bursting with color and coolness … a hangout that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
Brunch may offer “puffy-fried Adobo-fried chicken paired with pineapple habanero hot sauce,” dinners feature “sour braised pork loin soup (that) will ward off the longest nights and the coldest winters, Japanese milk bread French Toast for classic pancit with chili oil, chicken liver mousse and calamansi pie with orange blossom meringue

BB’s is owned by Justin Bella. Chef Robbie Hojilla, has a background in French and Italian cuisines and has a “Eurocentric fusion” touch. “Playful and cheery, but suffused with meticulous technique, the menu is just what we want brunch to be: lighthearted, good-mood inducing, and thoroughly delicious in a way that can only be achieved with sober attention to detail,” states Michelin
