The concert isn’t just a showcase of his talent and love for music but also a venue to foster Filipino connections. Zos!mo believes that music breaks language barriers, and by singing Filipino songs, he’s instilling a deeper understanding of the Filipino-American experience.

Zos!mo on elevating Filipino-American culture through Tagalog songs
“While Tagalog is not the only language in the Philippines, promoting it here builds a bridge to better understand Filipino Americans,” Zos!mo explains. “Our roots and how our culture helps make the multicultural experiment that is America, even richer.”
His last concert in June has been nothing short of a homecoming. “It feels like a homecoming,” he shares with South Pasadenan. “Like I’ve come full circle because Eagle Rock was our first home when we moved to the US. My wife and I would bring our kids there for special events when they were toddlers. Looking back, it seemed like a novelty to us coming from a country with practically no public libraries.”

Zos!mo’s journey isn’t limited to the confines of his event venues. In June, he performed the Tagalog song “Wasakin and Pader” (Break the Wall) for NPR’s Tiny Desk contest.
With his latest songs “Gutom” (Hunger) and “Huwag Mong Patayin ang Ilaw,” (Don’t Turn Off the Lights), Zos!mo is ready to unveil a musical whirlwind at Jeweled Universe.
