Oregon man hits lottery jackpot before retiring, to receive $1,000 per week
One man in Oregon will live contentedly his days in retirement, all thanks to his local lottery.
Richard Nelson of Riddle, Oregon, hit the jackpot prize of the Oregon Lottery’s Win for Life game drawing last Saturday. He will now receive $1,000 (almost P53,300) each week.
Nelson bought his ticket at the local market and regularly plays the Win for Life game. He said that when he had his ticket scanned, it stated that he had to go to the lottery office. He then gave his ticket to the clerk and had her check it.
When he saw the lucky numbers printed out, he was in shock. He said of the moment: “I nearly fainted.”
The lucky winner, who has been a millwright for 18 years, said his win came at a “perfect time” as he is set to retire on July 5.
“It didn’t really sink in until I got the check,” Nelson said about his win. “I’m still a little rattled.”
So what is he going to do with the money? Nelson shared that he plans to use it for retirement and in spending time with his grandchildren. /ra
